Hello,

I want a set of holes on a conical surface, for that I wanted to have Points on the surface. I tried to use "points on face" option in Point set command and it is creating the points. But I eant my points at my desired location.
1. I tried project option but my actual point locations are differing with the projected points location.
2. I tried Wrap Geometry option but it is saying that "nothing is projected".
Need suggestions on how do it.. and I also wanted to have an automated table in the drafting sheet with the hole positions.

What version of NX are you running?

OK, if you create a 'Point on Face' and set it to be 'Associativ'e, there will be two expressions created defining the location of that point in U/V space which is how you map points on a face, any face, irrespective of it's shape or math form, such as conical or spherical or whatever. Editing those U and V expressions will move the point on the face.

Hi John,

I tried that option but I have a problem here. The moment I click on the desired surface, it is giving the X, Y and Z coordinates, and I edit the coordinates of X and Y, and I want my Z coordiante to be adjusted automatically on the surface as per the given X and Y coordinates. But it is not happening and my point is coming at a different location that too as a fixed point.

Basically I need a pattern of points on the conical surface with the flexibility to change the count and coordinates as per my requirement thru expressions and I want the Points data to be shown in the drafting as a table.
Please throw some idea on how to do it.

Thanks in advance...

If you have a pattern of points in the XY plane, you can project these to the conical surface (use the "along vector" direction option).

Can you provide at least a picture (if not an actual part file) of what you're attempting to accomplish?

Hi Guys...

Thanks for your replies.
I could able to achieve it thru "along vector" direction option.
