I found a thread with a link to a materials database file:

but the link to the file appears to be broken. Does anyone have this file?

Time Warner for some reason blocked out my files. They don't know why either.
When I have the time, I plan on redoing my site.
The link shown is the only one working for now.

Their automatic software may be interpretting the file as "script", since SolidWorks material files do kinda look like scripts.

This isn't working for me in 2010 SP2.1. It works fine in 2009 SP5.1. Has anyone else experienced problems getting the database to work in 2010 and if so, how did you solve them?

I will not have 2010 installed until end of March.
I will try it then. I will work out any issues after install.

I think the problem was on my end. I called it "Custom Materials" which seems to be a reserved name in Solidworks 2010. However, I also ran it through an XML parser and reformatted it. Who knows. Clearly the problem was on my end. Sorry for the alarm.
