Continued from Potential Disaster in the Making.
Definitely fulfilling every bit of its potential.
This is probably the worst disaster, excluding loss of life events, to hit Spain in a very long time. Nobody has died, but many lost a lifetime. Buried. Gone.

At least one bit of good news here.

Surprise Development!

This sign was discovered this morning.

Strength to La Palma! The dogs are fine!
signed: "A-team".

Video
The A-Team has rescued the dogs trapped by the lava. Frustrated by the lack of action on the part of the authorities in approving the much anticipated air rescue attempt, The "A-Team", a group of animal activists took matters into their own hands. Apparently they mounted a covert operation sometime on Tuesday night and successfully slipped in past the police and around the roadblocks to rescue the dogs. The identity of the A Team agents and the present location of the dogs is being held secret, so as they cannot be prosecuted for violation of the security rules.

This story cannot yet be verified, but we hope it is true and that the dogs have indeed been rescued.

Now it's only a matter of time before they're taking us away in nets flown by drones!

Joking aside, great news if true.

Unfortunately the authorities here, or anybody really, are definitely not famous for their speedy pace of action. Sometimes the only thing you can do is act and pay the fine later... if you get caught. Let's hope they made a clean getaway. All's well that ends well.

That's great! Love those stories. It always galls the hell out me when the so called 'authorities' stop people from making potential saves. I have no doubt after our recent fire here that more than 1/4 of the lost homes and irreplaceable items could've easily been saved except for the dumb-ass authorities and their tiny minds.

You see so many abandoned cars and a block of parked Concrete Trucks that sat there for probably weeks before getting buried. Why would you leave that hardware to just be destroyed?

44 can you show on the Lava Map where the dogs were trapped?

Most places you go here to ask an official to do something, anything really, their first answer is NO. You can't do that and give you some totally illogical reason. Then you spend the next 90min explaining to them what they said isn't logical, that yes they can do it and telling them how. I needed a residence certificate today and the guy saw that my ID had expired, so he could not give me one. I had to explain to him that the paper I put right next to my expired ID was the ID's renewal affirmation, which I have to carry around with me until the Policia National can get my new one printed up and mailed to me... in about 60 days.

At Dog Rescue OP was at the stock tank in this video, which puts them at 28°36.901'N, 17°53.459'W

Thanks. Those dogs we on a truly tiny island of safety. Wow. How lame for them to have been abandoned in the first place. I can easily see the owners saying, "I have to get my animals!" And some authoritarian numskull drone parroting, "No one is allowed there. It's too dangerous." Then it taking a week for the place to be surrounded. Sigh.

After the cone broke.

What's really hard to believe is the amount of lava that covered the landscape in just one month. It just goes on and on.

I guess it will be worse when the openings works it's way down the cone "hill" getting closer to the "source".
And [thumbsup2] for the pictures.

Yet on the east side of the island in Santa Cruz, life goes about quite normally, at least when there is no ash fall.
