Continued from Potential Disaster in the Making.
Definitely fulfilling every bit of its potential.
This is probably the worst disaster, excluding loss of life events, to hit Spain in a very long time. Nobody has died, but many lost a lifetime. Buried. Gone.

At least one bit of good news here.

Surprise Development!

This sign was discovered this morning.

Strength to La Palma! The dogs are fine!
signed: "A-team".

The A-Team has rescued the dogs trapped by the lava. Frustrated by the lack of action on the part of the authorities in approving the much anticipated air rescue attempt, The "A-Team", a group of animal activists took matters into their own hands. Apparently they mounted a covert operation sometime on Tuesday night and successfully slipped in past the police and around the roadblocks to rescue the dogs. The identity of the A Team agents and the present location of the dogs is being held secret, so as they cannot be prosecuted for violation of the security rules.

This story cannot yet be verified, but we hope it is true and that the dogs have indeed been rescued.

La Graciosa has recently been granted "island status". Its guite small and formally was just considered part of Lanzarote, but technically there is water between them. There is another one, Punta Delgada, just a little farther out, almost as large, and Montana Clara in between, but those are still considered just a rock. The old Simon & Garfunkle song does not tell us and I'm not sure myself when a rock becomes an island, or an island becomes a rock, which BTW gives me an excellent excuse to visit each one to see if I can refine that definition. Graciosa is inhabited by humans. The others not. However the yellow in the flag supposedly represents a species of canary birds that are also native to these islands. Actually they are greenish yellow. Anyway, that's a good thing, having all.

We don't really need to know which came first. [puppy] [egg] [ducky] And I guess we will have to wait for the song remix, a new official flag, another volcano that connects the two, or my trip report, to find out the rest. Until then, you can call us 7 or 8. No harm done.

Thanks, Red...

It's easy; Islands never cry...

There you go. All I had to do was FF>>

Probably need to the IAU involved; they were the ones that came up with a definition of "dwarf planet" that included Pluto, so they could likewise define a "dwarf island"

Retweet to all.

A criminal investigation into the abandonment of the dogs has been opened.
The present whereabouts of the dogs is unknown.

Five small earthquakes last night, all gone unnoticed except by the seismographs.

An offer of a reward for proof of life has not been answered. I mean about the dogs, not the volcano.

It's been officially over. Until the next time.

As displayed here - data points at 6 minute intervals, there is evidence of the Tsunami, but not the full impact of it's height.

The tsunami thrashed our upper harbor here in Santa Cruz, CA.

It floated all the cars in the parking lot and raised all the docks to within an inch or so of floating free off their pilings.

I'm really annoyed because I went to the absolutely CRAP Tsunami warning center and couldn't figure out if we had a warning or not. That's how screwed up it is.

Fascinating the shockwave! Check out this Scott Manley vid showing it go around the world. People heard it in Alaska.

A lot of wave (all of it) can pass the gage in 6 min without registering anything. It could have been much higher.

Looks like Alaska didn't see anything.
