curved anistropic material properties?

Hello,
I was hoping someone could help me out. I'm trying to model something that is made up of a wire wire with anisotropic material properties. This wire is bent round a former and the final shape consists of straight sections and ~semi-circular sections at the ends. Does anyone have anyexperience of modelling something like this? I've got an idea that I could switch to a polar coordinate system to mesh the curved regions and then switch back to a cartesian system for the straight sections.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

so what you want do do, is to orient the element coordinate system in a special way.

First define the local systems using LOCAL. Set the pointer for the element system using ESYS.

Then mesh the lines or volumes of constant orientation.

Repeat the steps for each different element orientation.
