Curves in drafting

So I have been creating manufacturing sheets in drafting from a model. When I am offsetting lines off the model lines for roughing I project a curve and then offset it. When I was reviewing my sheets today I went into expand and rotated the view and saw that my sketch from drafting was on a differnt place then the crossection of the model! Why is it doing this?

Going back I noticed it did this on all the sheets i've worked on, but the offset of the plane that my sketch was on from the plane the crossection was on seemed random.

I read your post and got curious. Tried it in NX754 and it has the same behavior.
No clue on why.
Does it matter ?

But, you create these offset curves for roughing , - in Drafting ?
Or is it just to document / visualize the operation?

I suppose technically it doesn't matter but it makes me uncomfortable knowing that it is like that. The curves aren't trully on the same plane as the cross section.

We create the finished part in modeling and then we make manufacturing sheets in drafting for each operation. So I am creating offset curves to represent, for example roughing within .050.

I'm a bit confused on what it is you are actually doing; can you give step by step instructions on how to replicate your problem?

Yes I can.
I start out by making the part in modeling. The part would be a ring. I then go into drafting and take a cross-section of the ring. Finally I either draw a line on that cross section view or derive a line from on of the cross-section's lines. Now go into expand and revolve the view, the lines that I created are not on the same plan as the cross section.

Make sure that the WCS is on the plane of the cross section, then do what you need to do.
Move the WCS using Format -> WCS -> Origin then pick the endpoint of one of the curves created for the section.

I recreated the scenario with a VERY simple ring, same result. I also did what you suggested Jerry and it did not help

This might be worth trying:
In the view Style
In the General tab, towards the bottom, change the extracted views from none to associative

Now I am even more confused. We can no longer re-create the problem! It is almost laughable. All my old models followed the same erratic behaivor. With my new ones the I can't recreate problem, no matter how I try to.
