Customizing "pallette" files for templates NX7.5...

I've sucessfully edited these for drafting and modeling. But I want to add a lot more content and use my own from a seperately stored directory.

How is this done? I've been poking around the environment data files and environment variables and I'm not seeing a clear answer.

Can someone shed some light on this?

TIA Dave

Just to be clear... I've played with pallettes on the resource bar but don't get performance comparable to using edited pax files (UGII Templates folder) through the "NEW" file dialogue. Or "CREATE NEW SHEET" dialogue in the drafting environment.

I would just like to be able to easily point these functions to my customized pax files.

If you've set the environment variable 'UGII_USER_DIR' to point to a folder, in that folder create another folder named 'startup' and in there place your various PAX files. Now if you place your customized templates there as well and if the PAX files do not include explicit path names to the templates, the system will look in that same folder for them.

That did it... thanks John!

on a similar note, how do I a)find the ugs_cae_templates.pax (which appears to be missing!?) and ii) remove the SIMULATION tab from the File>New menu.

Thanks.

You can find the 'ug_cae_templates.pax' file in the .../UGII/templates folder. However, delete/editing this file will NOT cause the 'Simulation' tab to be removed from the File New menu.

For John...

Does Win 7 x 64 handle the pax files a little different than XP?

I'm falling flat getting any of my PAX files to work right. These all worked flawlessly in XP.

Am I dealing with a known issue?

TIA Dave

Little further detail...
I can get them to run if I place all my custom templates and pax files back in the "UGII/Templates" folder.

But the dialogue displays them as if the original PAx and mine are both being read. It Stacks the original onto and ahead of my content. That symptom is consistant for my "model" "drawing" & "sheet" (in drafting space templates)

If I try to run any of this from my UGII_USER_DIR = C:\NX_LIB\CUSTOMIZATION folder NX becomes unresponsive when I attempt to "create new file"

Anyway... if you have anythnig to offer that would be great. If not... I'll live with it as is. At least I can use it, even if its muddled up.

TIA

Could be Win7 and its increased security on folders.

Hi 3dr,
Try deleting templates provided by nx in /ugii/templates and keeping only your own.
hope this help
