Hello,
I am looking for cutaway diagram for small tube launched drones/munitions like Switchblade 300 (could be a drone of any class)...basically want to get an idea of internal structures arrangement for drones which have folded wing mechanism. Any open source papers or thesis recommendations are also OK.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

The datasheet shows you pretty much how it's arranged

Hi Greg,
I have put in a request to get access to that paper through our institution.

Basically, I want to get an idea of the arrangement of primary structures inside the UAV. Also I just suggested Switchblade as an example...could be of any drone in that particular configuration. Also not looking for any info which is proprietary.

Pivoting wings aren't new. It's a wing with a pivot. I saw the first model with pivot wings in the form of a model rocket remote control boost glider - around 1975.

As far as internal structure - I doubt it has very much of one. Aside from the wings and motor every thing else could be a slip-fit inside the tube, if circuit boards and batteries aren't bonded as part of the structure.

The SWITCHBLADE design is highly proprietary and is a weapon system... hence all details are classified under USA International Traffic in Arms Regulations [ITAR]. There are severe penalties for revealing technical details and/or selling any element of the weapon without USA export authority.

I suspect that 99.99% are being destroyed during the attack, hence their design would be hard to reverse-engineer from debris. Finding a relatively undamaged or 'captured' system would be the only reliable way to define/duplicate it's mechanisms and systems... good luck.

PS: Greg Locock's referenced document is very basic... and just 'one-way' to make a viable wing-fold mechanism... but still does not provide any hints regarding stability and flight control systems, guidance, electronics or kill-mechanism.
