Cutting prestressed double T beam 1

Can anyone help me with cutting a prestressed bonded double T beam? I am not able to get to the ends to take out the tension in the strand. Is this possible? any website, books or procedures would be greatly appreciated.

Well, if it is a BONDED prestressed double-T (presumably pre-tensioned) you are not going to be able to de-tension it (the strands are bonded to the surrounding concrete!) and cutting it presents no real problems.

Thank you for the information Ingenuity. So as long as I confirm that it is prestressed and more importantly bonded I can cut the strand anywhere along its length? Is that correct? Is there somewhere I can confirm this information? Not that i do not trust you but I need to refer to something in my report.

Pick up the 2000 lb device on your desk with the 12 buttons on it and call a double tee manufacturer. They can advise you.
Note that they make double tees and hollow cores in long beds and cut them to length, so I'm guessing the answer is you can do it, but you should call them.

I'd be surprised if you find a reference for that sort of thing -- it's just based on understanding of the system, and maybe experience.

Note that there is a difference between where you can cut a prestressed member and where you should cut one. Without further context on the application, I'm assuming that you've already considered that.

Some strands you can cut, some you definitely should not cut....as JC noted.....call a manufacturer....preferably the one that produced your particular span.
