Hello,

Does anybody know when PSL2 was introduced into API5L?

Many Thanks in advance!

Think it was the 43rd edition when they radically changed it and brought in all the appendices but I'll have a look later.

That was the joint API and Iso 3183 version.

I've had a look and its there in the 43rd (2004) but may have started earlier in the 42nd edition or even earlier than that.

The joint version was actually the 44th edition which was the big change.

However I don't have any electronic versions of even the 42nd edition.

you can always ask API itself. Or try the pipelines forum which is more heavily used.

Why do you want to know?

Hi Guys,

I found out from our library that PSL 2 pipes are first mentioned in the 42nd edition of API 5L (2000), they are not listed in the 41st edition (1995).

Thanks for your consideration.

Regards

John

I am interested in how the changes to the standard have helped industry produce higher quality pipes, especially ERW pipe.

Another query, when was annex J (offshore pipe) and K (ndt requirements)introduced into API 5L?

All the annexes turned up in the 44th Edition (2008).

This was the biggest shake up for decades.

My understanding was that it tried to incorporate as standard options all the supplementary requirements everyone produced on top of API 5L before then.

Didn't really seem to work as everyone still added their own little additions, but it was a good try.

The 43rd edition had a set of APPENDIXES.

APPENDIX A SPECIFICATION FOR WELDED JOINTERS (NORMATIVE) . . . . . 79
APPENDIX B REPAIR OF DEFECTS BY WELDING (NORMATIVE) . . . . . . . . . . 81
APPENDIX C REPAIR WELDING PROCEDURE (NORMATIVE). . . . . . . . . . . . . . 83

To have an ISO code for line pipe.
