Dear All,
its pleasure to join eng-tip forums..
i have inquiry .
i have chiller panel soft starter 700 KW 415 v. and Im facing problem with cable termination,the hole of cable lugs are bigger than the hole of bus bar and bolt size , but when we use washer its look ok and tighten firmly and no loss , so does the gap between bolt and the dia of bolt will effect .
Kindly note this problem is in the out going cables , each cable will carry (I/sqrt(3))..

The estimated current at 700kW is 1150A. I am assuming that you are using 2 runs of 120sq.mm or 150sq.mm Cu conductors.If you are using industry standard Cu connectors (like NEMA two hole) lugs, then you should be ok.Possibly the vendor did not follow the standard openings. I wonder if it's two hole termination with standard hole to hole dimension. Regarding bolt hole and torque, these are well controlled values too.
