Design of Elevator dividing beam

I have been asked to design elevator dividing beam to support guide rails & brackets.
There are guide rails attached to a frame is attached to dividing beam . Please refer the attachment

if the supporting brackets are attached to dividing beam , the tip of U shaped frame is deflecting more about 25 mm .
is there any sample design calculation for lift dividing beam

Which design standard are you working on? EN 81-20 / ASME A17.1 etc.?

For EN 81-20 compliance and according to Clause 5.7.4.6, the maximum deflection of T-guide rail is 5 mm (with safety gear operating) or 10 mm (without safety gear). Stress also has to be considered for variable operation conditions.

It is the permissible values. In practice, the allowable deflection is much less e.g. 1 mm taking into account the riding comfort and smooth sliding of the counterweight.

If the guide rail support bracket tip horizontal deflection is 25 mm, the superimposed maximum deflection on guide rail will be larger which will surely fail the riding comfort rerquirement.

EN 81-50:2014 Annex C provides a complete guideline on calculation procedures for guides rail. The calculated reaction forces on the support brackets on both sides of the dividing beam can then be used to size the lift shaft dividing beam.
