Does anyone know a good program to analyse light poles and traffic signal supports? I'm using an old DOS program that is cumbersome. I don't want to write my own spreadsheet. And I don't want to buy and learn a new structural software system that has an add on that might or might not handle AASHTO wind load options properly. I want something simple and easy that is setup up to handle the pecularities of tapered poles.

I think you will find free Mathcad applications for such things at Florida DOT's site, have been having them almost a decade.

i just go to the local municipalities website. They almost always have typical details for developers for traffic signals and street lights. No reason not to trust the design, it's being used already all over town.
I know this doesn't really answer your question, but it might give you the answer without the calculations.
The FDOT MathCad program is great, but it might be too much for a 30 ft. tall light pole.
