Hi,
I was hoping I could get some help. I was verifying the design of a blind for RTJ flange that a contractor proposed to us using B31.3 calculations. The material they're proposing to use is 44W steel. I don't see 44W in Table A-1 to get the S value. I know the yield strength is 44ksi from other structural books I'm using, but wasn't sure if I was allowed to substitute the value from there or if Table A-1 using more conservative values for the same material.
Similarily, please correct me if I'm wrong, the E value even though it's not shown there would just be 1.0 as it's a plate (therefore seamless) and the W value would also be 1.0.
thank you.
