When I try to set the length of the thread to the expression “length_of_thread”, in the attached model, it always becomes a constant. Our students should change a M5x50 to a M6x60 screw, and it becomes a problem when they change the length. Does anybody know what drives the length of the thread?

Hi Henrik,
I am using NX8.5 and it is working fine in my case.(though i admit when i opened your part the thread length was not related to the expression "length of thread")
What version of NX you are using?

I forgot to mention that the length of the thread changes from 22 mm for the M5x50, to 24 mm for the M6x60.

I'm using NX 8.0.3.4

Apparently there's a problem with NX 8.0.3.4 since I just tested your part file and I verified that is working incorrectly (as you described). However, I've also verified that this appears to have been fixed in NX 8.5.1.3, as Kapil has indicated. I guess you could contact GTAC and have them open an IR/PR but since it appears to have already been fixed in the current release I'm not sure that they'll give this a high priority relative to getting this into the next MR for NX 8.0.

We’ll go for NX8.5 in the autumn. It seems that many of the problems we run into in NX8.0 have been fixed in NX8.5.

Thanks for informative replies from everybody.
