Hi

I am setting up a diesel Generator, so I want to know what a normal oil pressure reading in a hot summer would be ?

Check the manual and the documentation for your piece of equipment.

Depending on the type of engine, the viscosity may not influence the correct pressure reading. The installation and/or commissioning guide may have your answer. I woukd expect something in the neighborhood of 850kPa gage.

My 5.9 Cummins runs 65 psi at 2000 rpm and 30 at 900 rpm idle when fully warmed up. 195 deg F. It has 300k mile on it.

He didnt say what kind of engine, but the one I have in mind regulates at rougly that pressure. Emergency relief kicks in at about 1050.

okay, I made a mistake - the figure I gave was absolute, not gage pressure, and it is pre-filter. Post-filter would be 100kPA lower with a dirty filter.

The engine manufacturer will specify an acceptable range of oil pressure. As long as your high load/hot weather readings do not fall outside of this range you should be fine and your warranty should be valid.
