DIN Standard Scope

Hi,

I have a client requiring a small unit (consists of lab size exchangers and membrane modules) to meet DIN standards. The system design pressure is 50 psig and max temperature 100ºC. As in North America we deal with ASME only, what is required to meet the DIN standards? Any help or guidance will be much appreciated.

Is this to be located in the EU? PED might apply then.
In that case, it might be SEP, depenidng on the application.
Id still apply a design code like EN or AD, but keep it simple (if its SEP).

DIN standards deal with measures and performance, such as free board, manhole size and so on.

for manufacturing it depends if it is under pressure (AD-MERKBLAT or EN-13121) or standard tanks, PED as was mentioned before

check with the European directive for Pressure equipment (PED) if it will fall under the directive (depends largely on the product Volume*pressure. If yes it needs the CE marking. As the PED is a law it will only lay down the essential requirements of a pressure equipment. If you use harmonised standards (EN Standards listed) a pre-assumption is given that all essential requirements are fulfilled. if you want to use a non harmonised standard (for example the ASME code) than you have to show how you will fulfill the essential requirements. please take note that for "critical" equipment you need a notified body for the conformity assessment (Lloyds, TUV, etc.)
