Disappearing apostrophes from drawing notes 2

Hi all,

I'm trying to create the following note in my solidworks drawing:
BOLT <MOD-DIAM>1/2" @ 6" c/c

When I type this in and create the note, the output is:
BOLT <MOD-DIAM>1/2 @ 6 c/c

Why is solidworks removing the apostrophes when it displays the note?

Hi SBaugh,

I do have that option turned on. The only case where they're disappearing is when I have the double prime mark bracketing the "@" symbol.
For example:

Something" @ Something" ==> Something @ Something

But this would work fine:

Something" @ Something ==> Something" @ Something (no change)

I tried typing it just like this:

BOLT <MOD-DIAM>1/2" @ 6" c/c and that was the output the " never disappeared.

If you RMB the note and select "Edit text in window" do you see the missing "?

If they are disappearing, then my guess is you need to try and replace your gtol.sym file... maybe its corrupted. However that is just a guess.

When I "Edit text in window" the " are there.

Another thing that may be worth noting is that the " @6" part is treated like a single unit. So I can't, say, select the last " without select the whole " @6" string.

How would I go about replacing my gtol.sym file?

What does the "@ 6" c/c" mean anyway? I have never seen this with reference to a bolt.

I think what you've got going on there is that Solidworks is assuming with the quotations and @ that you're trying to create a reference to a dimension or something (Like "D1@Sketch1"). Mine works exactly how yours does, if I have "<data>@<other data>" it returns <data>@<other data> without the quotations and makes the entire string one big block that can't be edited separately. If I leave out the " or the @ then nothing changes. Not sure what it is supposed to do in a note, someone else is going to have to explain this "functionality", but I think it is working like it is supposed to. Not sure why SBaugh's works differently, can't find options for that.

You just need to add the " twice and it shows up once. See in this image below:

I did not see that yesterday. This works alot like a registry file in Solidworks, you must have dual \\ to make one appear... must be a code thing.
