Dr Abe on Windows 10

I'm using Dr Abe on Windows 10, though it is officially unsupported. I've been using it around a year or so, but all of a sudden yesterday I started getting some errors and weird behavior. Windows installed some updates, and I also updated SolidWorks to the latest SP the same day, so not sure if either of these "broke" Dr Abe, or if it was something else. Either way, has anyone else seen this issue? If so what did you do to fix it?

If I try to create a new program, the auto-execute and make sheet buttons are not accessible. If I edit an existing program, when I regenerate the NC data I get an error that says, "Please check current machine drive information." Then everything is blank.

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling a few times, as well as using system restore. Neither has worked.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Matt

Hi Matt.

I don't use Dr Abe but I do use Solidworks. One time after adding a service pack and some addons it changed the path of where to look for my drawings. Was just a matter of telling it to look for the old path and there they were. May be the case here as well. Sorry I can't be of any more help.

Thanks. I actually did end up getting to to work, and I think you are on the right track. It seems like something changed in regards to the driver file, most likely from one of the Windows updates. The error messages in Dr Abe can often be tricky to decipher. Either way, I did get it fixed, and finally received word from Amada that they have a version compatible with Windows 10.

I would never use Windows 10 in anything i use to run my business. There was a time where the golden rule was "never update a stable working system". Yes, some updates are necessary but this crap with Win 10 forcing updates is unacceptable. I can't imagine using it on a machine control.

I use the 3i software of Amada built for Windows 10. Had this problem with Windows 10. The software license got locked and had to wait for 3 days for it to get reactivated....Try disabling the windows update service in Windows 10. That must do the trick
