Does anyone know where the drafting standard is saved? When customizing the standard its possible to save it with another name. I would like to share these settings but can't find the file.

I use NX5.

There are settings that can be made globally using defaults or on a part by part basis. Many of these settings are the same ones. I'm not quite sure which you are aware of nor what you really intend or expect to achieve exactly?

The customer defaults are edited under File>Utilities>Customer Defaults. But for drafting most of the time users set up template files which once set and saved with the correct defaults function really well for capturing them in a portable manner. Of course to be really thorough most site administrators set both, but I am nevertheless a dedicated template user and find the in the immediate sense you really only need the correct templates to get you going.

When it comes to drafting templates there are canned "out of the box" drawing formats that you can use. These actually use templates, which you can edit by overwriting the originals, or what is in my opinion better you can set up your own custom palette files, using the system samples as a guide.

What you're touching on are quite commonly asked questions so searching the forum should yield good results.
If after further investigation you still have some specific questions then by all means ask away.

The information covering the pre-defined standards are hard-coded into the system, however if you edit any of them you have to give it a new name and copy of the standard settings are stored in two files, which you will easily recognize, in the same location as your normal Customer Default changes are stored. This file can be found in the folder located at...

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Unigraphics Solutions\<NX version>

Note that the file with the .dpv extension is where the actual settings are stored while the file by the same name except for the .xls extension is an XML file containing the instructions on how to append the name of the modified standard to the Customer Default dialogs. The .xls file is only created and updated once when you define the standard for the first time, but the .dpv file will be updated whenever you make any actual changes to the settings in the standard.
