Hey guys, what is the best way to estimate water inflow into drained and hybrid basement? Is there any specific tools or equipment that I could use to accurately measured them? Currently, I'm using flow net to estimate water inflow for hybrid basement. For drained basement, I simply assumed that it is 10 times higher than hybrid inflow, which I think is not accurate.

Not sure why you want to do this, but usually, as with flow nets, you need to kn ow the permeability (hydraulic conductivity (long word some like)). This can be estimated knowing soil grain size distribution and density, but it is better to run lab tests. If this is for a typical residence, all bets are off. Backfilling technique significantly affects where the water runs.

It just that I have to calculate water inflow into the two basements, apart from using flow net I'm not sure how to accurately measure them.

Thanks

For one thing, very likely the infiltration from rain is at least all the area of the excavation that was made for the basements, due to the way backfill usually goes and roof water. It can go fast, assume coarse gravel as the soil.

the link below shows flow to well equations. Use them (fully or partially penetrating, gravity or artesian flow) to calculate flow from a well. Calculate the well's radius using the overall area for the excavation. Determine the distance, "R" using Figure 4.23. If the well's effective radius is 50 ft and you calculate an R-value of 50 ft, Use 100 ft for the R value.

I've done this with huge success! Good luck!
