I'm considering which area i should go into for drafting and i've been trying to research what are some things many drafters do that like people/businesses buy the fiverr version. Figured i'd take advantage of location here in memphis however i'm still a student.

What are some good disciplines that employers of Companies mainly look for...i have a tough time deciding between HVAC, Structural, Civil, Mechanical.

Well I would say go towards something that interests you.

Drafting is a broad field that has applications in many industries.
Product development
Industrial Design
Architecture
The others that you named and more.

You could take some time on youtube to see what kind of things drafters are doing in each of these industries.

3D drafting is very much the standard in almost all fields now, the artform is turning a 3d model into a good set of drawings.

Get your hands dirty with some different softwares and workflows to see if anything tickles your fancy.
Some time spent drafting in solidworks will give you a feel of what Mechanical drafting or parts manufacturing could be like.
Autocad and Revit is a great start for HVAC Structural and Mechancial.
Civil3D is the go to for civil drafting.

I would encourage you to focus on 3d work flows because it isn't going away, we aren't going to move back towards 2d drawing production were going to move away from it.

CHALLENGERSRT,

Are you interested in drafting or design? It is easy and convenient to generate drawings when things are modelled in 3D[ ]CAD like SolidWorks. Drawings ought to be generated by the original designer, since they understand all their requirements.

As far as I am concerned, SolidWorks is a design tool. If you are not qualified to make decisions, you should not be allowed anywhere near it.

Hi, for a promising career in drafting on platforms like Fiverr, focus on disciplines with high demand like Structural or Civil engineering. But still, when you have selected 3-5 options for yourself, I would recommend looking for information/forecasts on how relevant these specialties will be in the coming years. AI is shifting the labor market and freelancing a lot, so it's better to choose what is interesting, what you are good at, and what you can stay competitive in even against AI
