Hi all, first post:

I run into this problem frequently, where I have an IDF or Electrical room in the middle of a large building or on a second floor and the RS/RL run ends up being 60'+.

Anyone have a go to mini split that has exceptionally long RS/RL run capabilities? I feel like if I developed a mini split system that could do 120' RS/RL runs I would make a fortune.

maximum run is directly related to compressor capacity, which relates to overall system capacity. so you have to select larger capacity system.

What manufacturer's have you researched? My recollection is Mitsubishi goes well beyond those lengths?

knowledge is power

I've seen refrigeration lines running up to 200'. Usually requires a size larger tubing.

Size and run length limits usually varies by manufacturer. I don't typically size refrigeration lines for this very reason.

I'd be careful with upsizing refrigeration lines to make up for longer lengths. this should be approved by manufacturer as that can screw with oil return due to less velocity.

maximum run for the RS/RL depends also in the location of the condensing unit of the multi-split. You should contact your manufacturer about this, i believe mitsubishi units can handle 20m vertical & 30m horizontal pipe with the location of the condensing unit at the bottom. If the Condensing unit is located above, then the pipe run will be much longer.

I've agree with EnergyProfessional, you should contact first the manufacturer & let them approved about upsizing the refrigeration lines.
