I am using AutoCAD R14 (ancient I know) right now, and I have a drawing I need to open. The problem is that it's in AutoCAD 2000. I was wondering if there was a DWG to DWG converter out there somewhere, I do not have acess to another version od AutoCAD where I could save it as a R14 file either.

Autodesk has a couple of free program called DWG TrueView and DWG TrueConvert. Both will convert any version Autocad file to any other version. TrueView also allows you to view DWG files without opening Autocad. You can download either program from the Autodesk web site.

I've got one called CadWizz that works very well for that purpose. It's free from Amethyst. I think the free one has a file size limit or # of uses limit.
I bought the full version for $40 or so and it has become my default Acad file viewer/printer.

If you simply need to open it, use eDrawing. You can download it for free from SolidWorks.

And by the way, as an AutoCad user since Version 6, convert to SolidWorks. I totally recommend it as a standard parametric modelling package.

Bentley also provides a pretty powerful drawing viewer.
