effective width for a slab design - wall on balcony

Hi,

Im dealing with a wall on a slab (balcony) - see attached picture.
What do you guys recommend for an effective width(beff) when designing a slab?

There probably is some definitive guidance somewhere, but since you asked what we would do, I would use about a metre.

I dont think I can consider alfa as 45 degrees?
 
Is it a concrete or a masonry wall?

Well change your line load in x point loads (your program does it too...:)

AASHTO used to have an effective width for cantilever slabs with wheel loads: E=3.75+0.8X, where X is the perpendicular distance from the supporting element to the load. You could treat your wall as a series of concentrated loads and add the effects. You could find out how that formula was derived, or, would drop the 3.75 from the formula and just use E=0.8X.
