Hi,

i started with CATIA but i'm moving to NX.
I wanna route the cable of my system, but i can't understand why i cant.
As far as i understand :

to route electrical i need connectors : youtube video ok
i need a logical schematic to get connections via netlist
But the problem is i can't draw logical schematic. looks like i need to import netlist ?

Where am i wrong ? is there tutorials for that ?
Can someone send simple example ?

Many thanks !

i precise :

connectors and connection points ok,
routing paths ok
but when i launch logic routing i can't add parts. I can add some mechanical parts but i'm not able to make connections

Hi Guanglier,
Yes either you can import an already created Schematic file (.hrn/.cmp/ plmxml or even from a spreadsheet if i am not wrong...not a complete list of formats though) or you can create it manually also ...maybe using connection wizard or writing it manually in any text editor software (it is timetaking activity i must say though) as per the formats (as specified in the import propetrties of the formats supported). If you have a complex wiring/cabling netwrok i will prefer using the imported file for schematics.
By the way NX do have a electrical diagram schematic creation interface driven through LTX schematics using which you can create and export the file formats for NX usage. But overall you are free to work on any 2d- schematic software as there are lot of formats supportedby NX.
Logical Routing is used mostly in context of Mechanical Routing (piping) for creating logical diagrams, run and spool definitions , do a comparison etc.

Thank you very much kapmnit for your answer !
I'll check this out to import schematic. But the main problem is the lack of format description, i didn't find anything !
I will start with a simple one wire design... i keep you in touch !

Hi Guanglier,
You can try this thing. Create a dummy electrical connection system (i mean placing sample connectors and devices) and CONNECTION WIZARD to create connections. Now once you have created the connections go to the COMPONENT and CONNECTION NAVIGATOR and right click and export to a netlist (sorry i am stuck in a project work so cannot recall the exact command) .This will help you export a .hrn and .cmp file which you can open in a notepad and will help you gain an insight about how the format actually looks like.

Thank you for your reply !

I started like this :
New document : New -> routing electrical
add 2 connectors : Reuse library-> Wiring connectors->UG_connector_1 and place it 2 times
Create spline path : between the ports of each connector -> i get a blue line between them

now going to the "route list" tab, everything is disabled (shaded).
I can only click on the "imort / export" but nothing more, i can't import anythihng.
On the electrical component navigator i get a "work part" with red sign, no right click ...
It's the same on the electrical connection navigator

I must precise that i'm on NX 9 without teamcenter.

I join a file with the two connectors and the spline path... can't figure out why i'm stuck...

Hi Guanglier ,
Sorry for a late reply. Once you have put the two connectors and created a routing path btw them. Go to CONNECTION WIZARD and create the logical defintion of the connection. Once you are done you will see your component as well as your connection navigator populated with the details you have filled up in the connection wizard.

Hi Kapil

Thank you very much for your answers !
i finally managed to get this working : i had to select "harness" and "cabling" in "Application"->More
Without that there is nothing activated in the tab Route list.

I can then create connections, add routing components, exports and so on.

Thank you very much for your help and have a great day :)

Hi,
It was stupid of me also not to tell you about that...you will notice that once you chnage your discipline it will reflect in your Re-use library also (i mean standards available).
Have a great day .
