Hello everyone,

Can you please suggest a way to compute the length of the rebar that extends from the precast beam to the slab?
I have also attached the figure to clarify my question.
I will be grateful to have any guidelines or solved examples.

Thank you.

Do they have to lap with other bars?

Then the minimum would be a lap length.

Thank you so much for your answer.
For clarification, the beam is precast, and slab is cast-in-place.
The bars that protude at the top of precast beam (please see attached figure above) resist the shear force that arises at the interace of the beam and slab.
They don't overlap with other bars.

I realized your answer is totally relevant with respect to the figure that I attached.
Sorry for the confusion.

I don't understand your attached figure. You say "protrude at the top", but your figure shows them across the web, extending into an intermediate or end diaphragm.

Ignoring the attached figure, what you're describing sounds like interface shear stirrups. Given the typically limited depth available in the slab, the interface shear reinforcement nearly always takes the form of loops extending into the CIP deck, with both ends anchored in the precast beam. This was discussed recently in this other thread.

I am sorry for the confusion.
Actually, I edited the figure, but somehow ended with the wrong one.
Also, thank you so much for your answer.
It is very helpful.
