Engineering units in Excel

Hi,
I'm sure this questions has been asked before, I just can't find any answer.

How can I get Excel to work with engineering units for data in/output.
being able to write something like 1.5k * 5u and get 7.5m as an answer.

Are there any fancy macros or something like it available to do these things?

Not as a general rule. You can potentially write your own, but it would seem to be easier to get something like Mathcad.

Why don't you just use custom formats for the cells:

<Format> <Cells>
select tab &quot;Number&quot;
select &quot;Custom&quot; from the list
type 0,00 &quot;u&quot; in the &quot;type box&quot;

do the same thing for the other units.

You have to tell your computer the units anyway even in mathcad.

That is true, but I like to have excel to use it in the calculations
Eg filling into a cell 1000 should then come up as 1k. Or entering 1000u should come up as 1m etc.

And the custom units won't help for that.
