okay really dumb question but if ethylene has a boiing point of 104 degrees C, at what temperature does it cease to be liquid and become purely vapour

Not a so dumb question.
The boiling/saturation curve is P vs T. So you can't define a boiling point temperature without the associated pressure.
If the boiling point of pure ethylene is 104 degC at atm pressure, then it will change state (liquid to vapor) at that temperature at the atm pressure.

hey thanks for the info...I am study for an MSc in Process Safety, and I come from an electrical background, so its somewhat of a sharp learning curve.. that's helpful, thanks

Thanks 25362 - that site is really helpful

The normal boiling point for ethylene is -104[sup]o[/sup]C.

Good luck,
