I want to create a chart that has mulitple x-axes and one y-axis. For example, I want to plot material strength versus temperature, so the y-axis is strength in megapascals, and the main x-axis is temperature in kelvins. I would like one or two other x-axes for temperature in degrees Celcius and degrees Fahrenheit. Can this be done with Excel. If not, can it be done with Mathcad? Thanks.

as far as i know, yes you can create charts with 2 x-axis and i have done it. unfortunately, this pc does not have xl, so i'm handicapped in providing details. check into the help system and see what is states. also, investigate the custom charts for further input.
meanwhile, i will investigate and provide a response tomorrow.
sorry, but...

If you select the first data range (X & Y values) and start the chart wizard, then add another data range (New X & same Y values), then once the chart is completed, you should be able to add the second X axis.

melone is right, it is a bit awkward though.
once you have all your data series in the chart, select the second series, and choose Format Data Series, Axis, Plot on secondary axis. Excel will generate a second Y-axis which is not what you want. Then, choose Chart | Chart Options from the menu, select the Axes tab, and check the Secondary X-axis checkbox (and uncheck the secondary Y-axis box, if you want).
Good luck.

Cheers,
Joerd
