I don't like my cursor to move when I hit the "enter" key, so I typically have that feature disbled in Excel. However, when I protect a worksheet or workbook, then the cursor automatically moves when I use the "enter" key.

Is there any way to prevent this?

Thanks

pmover,

Thanks for your reply. That is what I typically do and it works fine if the worksheet is unprotected. However, once I protect the worksheet, the cursor automatically moves down one cell after using the enter key. I would like to prevent this from happening.

I have never come across this before, so I made a quick investigation (using Excel-XP). It seems that this "feature" applies if you uncheck the "Select locked cells" box when you are protecting your worksheet.

I suspect that if you wish BOTH to have the cursor remain in place AND to prevent the user from positioning the cursor in protected cells, William binGates has thwarted you.
