Sounds like a silly question but is there a way we can retrieve an excel format pasted in word document?
Lets say, I have an excel design calculation then I paste it in word document as picture, Is there a way it can be pasted back in excel and retrieve the same formatting including the formulas? Or, is there a way the formulas can be viewed in MS word? Any replies appreciated. Thanks a lot!

In Word 2003, it seems that if you Paste Special | Paste as Picture, not only can you not recover the formulas, you can't even edit the numbers in Word; they're images.

If you instead Paste Special | Paste as Excel Object, it seems to come in as a link to the source spreadsheet, which opens when you click the resulting pseudo- table.

If you just Paste, you get an ordinary table, again with no formulas.

If you're asking what I think you're asking, and you don't have a backup of the Excel file, you're screwed.
