In searching around this forum, it looks like there is no known cure for running Excel 2003 with NX7.5 in Win 7
I get an error message "Failed to start new Excel workbook" when I try to edit a parts family file or print out the expressions.
Are there any fixes for this? It worked when I was running NX7.5 on a Vista machine.
Thanks.

the problem is not windows 7, it's 64bit windows. excel 2003 is 32bit only and my understanding is that the registry entries aren't there for it to work properly. I've googled and never been able to find what they are.

can't remember the wording of the closed PR on this but I think it's not the OS but the fact that NX is 64bit that's the problem. It might be the 32bit version of NX would work (when installed on a 64bit) system.

The problem with the installation of Excel 2003 on Windows 7. It fails to write certain registry values needed by NX to access it. Our "fix" was to copy the Excel registry values from an installation of Excel 2003 from a WinXP 64-bit system and import them on the Win7 boxes. The other solution is to go to Excel 2007/2010.

The attached file was posted in another Excel-NX-problem post a while ago. I downloaded it then, in case I couldn't find it again later, but I've never tried it so use at your own risk and back up the target machine's registry first (maybe set a system restore point too, just to be on the safe side).

Best of luck, and I'd be interested to know how it goes.

Cheers,

Jon
