I need to design an expanding collet to fit on the arbor of a machine (so I have a stop with a retractable plunger thru the center of it) and have one that is a taper with alternating splits from each end. I can get it to tighten but not really hold without slipping. Is there a 'collet design' guide or some good rule of thumb references that I can make sure I meet? I've done collets before and just lucked out I guess - I'm looking for some type of collet design handbook I guess... Thanks in advance. Gus (gus_mouse@hotmail.com)
