I have a part which contains only points. They are all named to identify them. I am trying to export these and input them into an excel file. How do I easily export the values and names of these points?

Make a design table.

You'll have to select the design table icon, then multi-select the points from the tree. (it doesn't work by dragging a window - must use tree)

Next, when it asks for parameter values, I would suggest that you use the filters. Points have 3 components - X, Y, and Z values, and these are regarded as a "length" parameter. Multi-select the X, Y and Z parameters, and add them. When you click finish, your point values will be added to a spreadsheet.

From there, you can externally modify the layout. Remove the parameter names, cut and past them into a side-by-side arrangement, whatever. It's very easy to do.

Hope that helps.

Unfortuanately design tables are a new thing to me. When I select all the points from the tree in the design table I can only get one column or row and all the values are zero.Is there a tooling option I need to activate? Is there an option to create many columns/rows? Thanks for your help.

In my opinion - design tables are as easy, or easier, than using the table function in drafting.

To nivlacburns: You seemed to have not selected the parameters. Check the documentation for design tables. I would suggest that you search your computer for the following files:

cfyugat3006.htm
cfyugat3320.htm
cfyugat3310.htm
cfyugat3330.htm

If you are new to this, it's a great opportunity to become savvy with a new set of tricks.

Thanks for the tip, Eric.

I didn't know that you had written a script to handle this sort of thing. I remember the points from excel to Catia, but having the reverse is a very cool thing.

Thanks for sharing. With your permission, I'll copy it over, and credit you...
