Failure of material for low temperature?

What is the reason that can cause the failure of drine connected to chiller and made of steel resists low temperature condition? where the failure was a longtudinal crack.

Numerous possibilities - material defect, internal freeze or ice plug, internal corrosion which thinned the material.... You want a definite answer? Send the failed drain line section to a lab for metallurgical analysis.

AS you mentioned the plug, the drain is plugged with hydrocarbons how this can cause such failure?

As I said, have the failed piece analyzed. We have no idea what specifically caused the axial crack without an analysis.
