I'm looking for a self tapping fastener with a flat head that can be used for 1/8" thick material. I also need design load capacities for the screws. Can anyone suggest a supplier and fastener? Size to be #10 or larger and load is less than 500 or 600 lbs. It's in a non-corrosive environment. Thanks...

I've spec'd the Teks 3 WTM #10x1" or an approved alternative.

Can you share the results of your research and opinions of why you selected one over others?

Just that I've used TEKS 3 and 5 fasteners for years and have confidence in the product. I often spec specific products with an 'approved alternative' rather than a generic product.

So, you were just trolling, right?

I don't troll.

Not at all... I wanted to see what was available and what some of the problems may be. I wasn't locked in to TEKS. I suggested to the client that Simpson may be more readily available, but because of their length (they don't have short screws), they may be too long.
