I am interested in finding articles written about Finite Element Software. I am composing a survey and comparison of commercial software for FEM analysis of solids and structures. Any leads would be much appreciated.

Check out Desktop Engineering. They have a website but I don't know the address off hand. Use a search engine to find it.

I want to know some good structural design and analysis software easy to use. Also, I want an opinion about Visual Analysis and Ram Advansse softwares. Are they good?

There is a British governmental or quasi-governmental agency called NAFEMS (I think National Agency for Finite Element Methods & Simulation) which does a lot of benchmarking. You may want to look in that arena for some information. I know that they have problems designed for the intent of benchmarking various, and I think they or people affiliated with them may actually have some published code-to-code comparisons.

I'm interested too of knowing more about the FEM softwares
by the moment I can recomnend the page of the internet Finite Element Resources, they have a big information about this kind of software software.Actually I'm using MSC/NASTRAN for complex designs and CADRE PRO ( to make a design quickly.

DocBob,

I would simply review the "Mechanical Engineering" magazine articles of the past two years. Virtually every large software vendor advertises in this magazine and, articles are frequently written on some new FEA application.

(Because the ASME is fundamentally a money making operation, and because the FEA software firms are currently flush with cash, the magazine is allways full of FEA/FEM ads.....I personally feel that the publication should be re-titled as "FEA Digest")

Hi DocBob,

Have a look at our FE products for geotechnical engineering. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
