Hi
What could be used as fire protection in a tunnel under construction? I guess portable extinguishers, but how far apart should they be placed and how do you fix extinguishers to solid rock?
The tunnel is for a hydroelectric plant, so the tunnel will be filled with water once the plant starts generating, so a permanent system wouldn't be practical.
There are not many things inside that could burn, but there are lamps that could cause short circuits and ventilation systems that could burn as well as cables.
Is there a code for this? I checked the UK tunnel code I have access to (first edition) and it doesn't mention anything. NFPA 10 wasn't developed for this type of conditions, so i don't know where else to look.
