Fit Spline Extra Line

Hello,

I am having trouble using the fit spline function. I start with two perpendicular lines in a sketch and create a sketch fillet on the corner. When I use fit spline on those three elements (disabling "close spline" and lowering the tolerance to 0.0001), a chord appears between the two endpoints of the fillet. This gives my sketch contour issues when I try to extrude a surface. I've seen tutorial videos of this where the chord doesn't appear, so I must be doing something incorrectly. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I don't see anything here. Can you post a sample file or screen shot.

Also what is your SW version and SP.

Works fine for me also. (SW2011-SP1)

Is the chord an integral part of the spline?

Thanks for the replies. I am using SW2010 SP1.0. The chord that appears is a part of the spline, but I don't understand why. Maybe it has something to do with the tangency relation between the lines and the fillet?

When I get home, I will take a screenshot to explain my problem. Thanks again.

And here's what happens after I create the spline. I am confused as to why a chord appears in addition for forming the spline.

btw, I am using Solidworks 2010 with SP 0.0. How do I obtain updated service packs?

Thanks for the help.

You need to be on a maintenance agreement with your SolidWorks Reseller (VAR) who you purchased SW from to get SP's.

I see. Is using SP 0.0 the cause of this spline issue?

Not necessarily but might be a reason. If you're on subscription, you can download the latest SP from SolidWorks site.

Also can you try a complete reinstall of SW.

Call you reseller. They can help with issues like this and may be able to confirm this is a bug that is fixed by a later version of SW.
