Good morning everybody,

I am new in the forum and this is my first post.

I have purchased some flanges A350 RF. Due to the re-design of the platform, such flanges should be installed in a piping class where FF finishing is required. We would machine the flange face in order to get flat face, but I have a doubt for the validity of its certification, where RF finishing is reported (same for marking on the flange).

Could you please advise how can I approach this issue?

Thanks for your help.

Andrea.Abbo, see B16.5, 6.3.2. It is permitted to remove the raised face so long as the minimum thickness tabulated as "tf" is maintained.

Mike

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

Dear Mike,

thanks a lot for your answer. In terms of certification what shall I do? Shall I prepare a declaration for flange conversion to be attached to original certificate or it's not necessary? It's just prevent Comments from my Client....

Thanks for your support.

Andrea.Abbo, I am not aware that anything special in terms of certification need be done, provided you meet all other requirements of B16.5. See especially the para 6.4.5 on gasket surface finish.

Mike

If you machine the Raised Face off then the Vendor could revoke the warranty he provided with the RF Flanges it depends how "picky" he wants to be if there is a "claim"

Thanks Mike/DSB123,

I will check with supplier if warranty will remain valid in case of re-working and I'll decide how to proceed.

Thanks a lot for your support.
