Link to Halifax Crane Collapse - Hurr. Dorian
From CBC News
There are problems when ND testing fails to expose multiple welding defects, the crane cannot weather-vane for two weeks, follow up reports are submitted, yet the crane collapses anyway and the only penalty is a two day suspension, a $500 fine, and a conclusory note that "... the tower crane owner and operator met the applicable legislative and regulatory requirements to prevent this event from occurring" and no one picks up on the contradiction. It was only dumb luck that the crane collapsed on an unoccupied tower under construction rather than the occupied condo next door.
