I am a retired PhD biochemist.

I buy many sticky glue traps for spiders.

They are expensive. They work VERY well! I live in
the country where there are many Hobo spiders all summer.

Can someone enlighten me as to what the sticky glue layer is
made of? I would like to attempt to make these traps myself.

How can they remain so sticky for months on end?

Thank you.

i have the same problem with insects and i want to fabricate the glue to retain them just like you, have somebody answered your quetion???....mail:edgardico@hotmail.com

The sticky glue layer is a pressure sensitive adhesive. It maintains tack after it has cured. What you need is a high tack waterbased Pressure sensitive adhesive. It is available through all of the glue manufacturers. Just apply it to paper and you have the perfect trap. A word of caution - use gloves. The agressive tack will keep it on your hands for several days. John Schrock
