All,

where can I find the deflection limit for a free standing CMU wall? Thank you in advanced.

By the way, I am using the Allowable Stress Design method.

I don't think deflection will be an issue with a reinforced CMU wall.

DaveAtkins,

In the Masonry Structures Behavior and Design published by the Masonry Society shows deflection limit = 0.007*h for Strength Design Method.

This really depends upon what it is attached to. For instance a free standing reinforced CMU screen wall probably needs no deflection limit since it is not attached to anything.

I did not mean that there is no Code prescribed limit--what I meant is that CMU (like concrete) typically does not deflect enough in service to be of concern.
