GE Relay Unintentonal Settings Change

Hello all!

I want to start this threat because of significant and potential problems caused by compatibility between Dell Latitude and GE Relays. I experienced multiple occasions where clients call back asking why we change settings on their relays, when in fact we compare the settings in EnerVista. A pop-up window appears with a message "no setting differences found". One thinks that the settings As Found and As Left are the same.

I want to ask if anyone has experienced such setting change and what change and perhaps what was the solution to prevent this.

I don't understand. What does the Dell Latitude have to do with the problem? Have you tried using a different computer/laptop with EnerVista to see if the problem still exists?

Sounds a bit like a training issue, either on your operator's end, or on the client's end.

I highly doubt that EnerVista would be changing settings on it's own. That would be a MASSIVE bug that one would expect to be found quickly, and should have been found before release.
 
We had settings changes occur on the 745 relay using GE software, but I think it was just between the programming and the printing. We would select and save one CT ratio and verify the setting, but the program would print the setting file with a different ratio. I don't recall the exact details but I remember GE looking at it in our office and confirming that it happened. The printed file and the stored setting file did not match. I believe the solution was a newer version of Enervista. It was 3-4 years ago.
 
During the site outage we performed metering checks on a GE489 relay. The software we used to download AsFound (AF) settings was EnerVista. After everything checked out, we downloaded the settings (AsLeft) and compared them. We found no changes.

On a separate occasion we compare the setting files sent by the client for the same relay and now we find a setting difference. I understand this is a big deal.

I experienced this issue first hand during an all site relay testing and found that my settings were different. I only performed metering checks. The as left settings were different than my as found. The only setting difference was "Assignable Input 1 was enabled". The as found setting for Assignable Input 1 was disabled.

I relate the Dell Latitude with these unexpected changes because I tried using other laptops and have not experienced any problems. We have 17 laptops that do not experience this. Only the Dell E5500 series and the 6500 series have this problem.

We currently have the most up to date version of EnerVista. We also keep our computers up to date. Thank you for sharing!
