Hi all,

How can I determine the syncronous, transient and sub transient reactances of a generator?

Many thanks to all who reply.

These values are usually supplied by the manufacturer. You will have to get in touch with them, or use generic values for the size/voltage unit you have.

Suggestion: Reference:
1. Edward Wilson Kimbark, "Power System Stability Synchronous Machines," Dover Publications, Inc., 1956,
Table 2 Typical Constants of Three-Phase Synchronous Machines, on page 40,
and similar publications often included in Public Technical Libraries or University Engineering Libraries.

Hi, as we all know that reactances are changing with respect to time during fault condition and it is very tedious to do so the mathematicall determination of these values, so, in this case, it is better to ask the manufacturer of the machine for all that important data or else, you could find some typical values from any electrical machine books / standard publication .
