Hi. I want to cut extrude a pattern into a part that has a curved exterior surface. Easy enough. However, I want the extruded pattern to follow the curvature of the part. If I insert a plane tangent to the part and create my sketch on that plane, the resulting cut extrusion obviously is linear. Not the affect I'm after. I can't figure out how to first wrap the sketch on the surface and then cut extrude it. Perhaps I need to create a 3D sketch? Zero experience with that Design tool but if that's how it's done I'll figure it out. Thanks in advance for any enlightenment others can provide.

I think what you need is to use the up to surface feature when you do the cut extrude.

Alibre has an in house forum you can try there too.
You are judged not by what you know, but by what you can do.
