Hi everyone
we are using nx 3.0
I am just starting to look at the manufacturing environment and I am wondering from the experienced cnc programmers here what you use grip / open programs for when your programming and what would be the single most time saving program you use. I need to write some grip / open programs to reduce the programming time here and would really like all of your input / comments.
Thanks in advance

My two favorites are:

NCedit (not sure the origional grip name). Allows you to edit a Millcontrol operation with freeform text entry using your editor of choice. You'll find this a real time saver if you need to enter lots of setup info. The standard Millcontrol entry is single line entry only.

The other is a modified file2points which is a point data importer. Great for importing large point data files used in the turbine industry.

Check out the grip program library there might be something there you can use as is or as a base to start your own custom program.

A few words of warning - grip has been in maintenance mode for some years now (no new features added, no major updates). It may not contain the functionality that you require. You may want to investigate the use of the NX API (I'm not sure how extensive CAM support is in NX3 though).

Like cowski said, grip has not been enhanced or updated. That said, the two I mentioned work fine in NX6. I would think it will be there a few more revs as well.
