Note, all is good. I've found my answer. This is what I sent to my collegue. We are working on a database and just needed to make sure we were entering the correct size in the correct column.
"I have seen this term, gut line, before, but I believe it is not the same thing as the choke. The gut line, from what I understand is the line (not the choke) that is opened to allow discharge into the flare pit / test facility (as you indicate).
Here is an example of some field notes I had handy:
SHIFT CHANGE SAFETY MEETING.
INCREASE CHOKE SIZE TO 16/64 OR 6.35 mm.
INCREASE CHOKE SIZE TO 20/64 OR 7.94 mm.
INCREASE CHOKE SIZE TO GUT LINE OR 38.10 mm.
BURNABLE GAS TO SURFACE; OPEN WELL TO FLARE.
DRY FLOW GAS METER IN SERVICE ON A 1" OR 25.40 mm ORIFICE PLATE."
