Hello,

I was hoping I could get some help here. I run into a hand sketch exercise that I would like to compare. Here is the problem:

Design a system with an inlet, discharge, and a method for monitoring pressure. Our client will install the system inline between their pump and injection point, which are approximately 20 meters apart within the same building.
Some design criteria has already been established:

¾” Swagelok tube/fittings, flanged inlet/outlet
Design of 600 psi, ambient
304 s.s. frame to be mounted on the wall
Pressure guage with isolation seal and valve

1. Provide a hand sketch P&ID
2. Provide a hand sketch GA

Thank you.

What Mike Halloran's saying is that your problem reads like a school assignment. If it was a "real world problem," it would be phrased differently. You're being asked to provide a basic sketch. You also use accronyms. That can be very dangerous. I'm presuming that a "P&ID" means a "piping and instrumentation drawing" and a "GA" means a "general arrangement" drawing."

I don't know if you only copied out part of the exercise or not, but there isn't sufficient information there for anyone to really help you. It is definitely not enough to sketch out a P&ID or a GA, and I've drawn then from scratch before. I don't know what type system you have, what components are in it, what elevations are involved, or any of the other myriad other qualities needed to do what your'e asking.
